Car problems happen to everyone eventually, and if you’re a handy person, you may be able to handle the bulk of them without professional help. However, just because you know how to change a tire or check your oil in the safety of your garage doesn’t always means you should attempt it on the side of the road. At Mile’s Towing Service, we prioritize the safety of our customers, so here are three times you should call for a tow truck and not attempt to fix your car problems yourself.

1. It Is Unsafe

If you get a flat tire on a nice, quiet country road or a road that doesn't see too much traffic, go ahead and change it yourself. However, never make the mistake of thinking it's safe to change a tire on a busy road like an interstate or a highway. Additionally, we don't recommend performing your own roadside assistance at night, or if the weather is poor. Anything that might make it hard for passing cars to see you is not worth the risk.

2. You Don't Have the Tools

This one may seem obvious, but if you don't have the tools to fix the problem yourself, don't attempt it or try to walk miles to get the tools. It's always better to call a tow truck for help than to wait for hours on the side of the road or risk walking along a busy interstate to get the tools you need.

3. You Were in an Accident

Finally, it can be tempting to drive away from the scene of an accident if the driver or other passengers are not injured. However, if your car has sustained serious damage, never risk driving it until you are sure of the extent of the damage. You may find your car no longer has operating brakes, it could be leaking oil or fuel, or the integrity of the safety features may be compromised. Even minor damage can sometimes warrant calling a tow truck, so don't take the risk!

Stay safe out on the road by leaving the tricky roadside problems to the experts. Miles Towing Service delivers professional and timely roadside assistance to drivers throughout the Philadelphia area. Contact us today at (215) 783-6919 for trustworthy care for your vehicle.
