Jumpstart Service

Why Your Car Won’t Start After Sitting for Several Days

A cabin light left on overnight can be enough to flatten a battery by morning. At Miles Towing Service, we see weak batteries, forgotten lights, and drained accessories turn a normal Philadelphia, PA, morning into a no-start situation. After three or four days parked, a car may crank slowly, or not at all. Before connecting jumper cables, we look for clues from the battery, dashboard, and ignition.

Our Most Common No-Start Causes

At 7 a.m., dim dash lights and a sluggish crank usually point toward low battery power. Other calls trace back to an electrical drain, such as a phone charger, interior light, or accessory that kept drawing power while the car sat. Our jump start services bring cables and equipment. We check whether a boost will get the engine running.

  • Corroded terminals: White or green buildup can interrupt the connection between the battery and its cables.
  • Loose cable connection: Even a slightly loose clamp can keep enough power from reaching the starter.

Can We Get Your Car Started After It Sits?

A battery boost often gets the car running when the battery simply lost its charge. If the engine still won’t turn over, or the car dies again soon after starting, the trouble may lie elsewhere.

If you smell sulfur, see smoke, or notice fluid around the battery, leave it alone. Before we arrive, switch off electronics and step away from traffic when it’s safe to do so. Through our roadside assistance, we take care of the roadside work while you stay clear of moving parts. Repeated starts can use up the last bit of battery charge fast.

  1. Turn off electronics: Shut down lights, climate controls, chargers, and other items that draw battery power.
  2. Check the surroundings: If you’re near moving traffic, get to a safer location when you can do so safely.
  3. Watch for warning signs: Tell us about smoke, heat, a strong odor, or visible fluid near the battery.

Our Towing Plan for Starting-System Trouble

Rapid clicking, no power at all, or an engine that cranks but never catches can point to battery, wiring, ignition, or other mechanical trouble. We don’t keep trying a boost when the roadside check points to a larger issue. We can load the vehicle onto a tow truck and take it from the place where it stopped.

  • No response after a boost: A tow may make more sense than leaving you with the same no-start issue.
  • Battery damage: Swelling, leaks, or unusual heat mean we stop electrical work and move to the next safe step.

On a busy Philadelphia curb or in a quiet driveway, a no-start can hold up the whole day. Miles Towing Service can bring a battery boost or tow your vehicle to its next stop. Call us at (215) 783-6919 or contact us to get started.
